EuroBasket 2025 Fan Zone, Limassol

In August 2025, Cyprus co-hosted FIBA EuroBasket 2025 alongside Finland, Latvia, and Poland – the country’s first-ever participation in the tournament, and the biggest sporting event ever held on the island. Limassol was named one of four Group Phase host cities, staging Group C at the Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Centre, with six national teams competing: hosts Cyprus, partner country Greece, Spain, Italy, Georgia, and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

With a moment this significant for Cypriot sport, the Cyprus Basketball Federation needed a fan-facing activation that would extend the tournament’s energy beyond the arena and into the city itself. Parallax was brought on to co-organize that experience.

What We Built

Parallax co-designed and delivered the official EuroBasket Fan Zone at Old Port Square, transforming Limassol’s historic waterfront into the city’s basketball hub for the duration of the tournament.

The Fan Zone ran daily – 6:30pm to midnight on matchdays, 6:30pm to 9:30pm on non-matchdays – across the tournament’s five matchdays in Limassol, delivering:

  • 3×3 basketball activations for fans of all ages
  • Live big-screen broadcasts of EuroBasket games, including matches played outside Cyprus
  • Live music and entertainment shows
  • An e-gaming zone and official merchandise booth
  • Gifts, giveaways, and interactive fan experiences

The goal, as defined with FIBA and the LOC, was clear: bring people closer to basketball, position Limassol as a proud host city, and build the bridge that carried fans from the Old Port straight into the Spyros Kyprianou arena.

The Impact

Beyond the games themselves, the Fan Zone gave Limassol a genuine role in a historic moment for Cypriot sport β€” turning the Old Port into a nightly gathering point for locals and visiting fans alike. The activation supported the Deputy Ministry of Tourism’s wider goal of positioning EuroBasket as a sports-tourism showcase for Cyprus, complementing broadcast and press coverage expected to reach a global audience.

For Parallax, the project reinforced what co-organizing a national-scale fan experience looks like end to end: partnering closely with a federation-level client, activating a public landmark on a live-event timeline, and delivering a program that had to work every single night for a week straight.

β€œThe collaboration of the Cyprus Sailing Federation and Parallax Experience for the 2022 OPAP World Techno293 Championships was highly successful. The organization of the 1-week competition, alongside the side events in collaboration with local schools about the sport and clean oceans, partners' day watching the finals on a catamaran, and particularly the impressive and memorable opening and closing ceremony, exceeded our expectations.”
