Hosting an event of this scale isn’t just about logistics — it’s about bringing together elite international competition, grassroots participation, and inclusive sport under one roof, in open water, on a tight seasonal window. The brief called for more than a swim meet: it called for an experience that could serve professional athletes, masters-level competitors, and Special Olympics participants alike, all while meeting the standards expected by European Aquatics and the Cyprus Swimming Federation.
Open Water Swimming Event
In April 2026, Parallax Experience co-organized the European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup – Leg 1 in Protaras, held alongside the Open Water Swimming Masters Tour and Special Olympics competitions. Working in close collaboration with the Cyprus Swimming Federation and European Aquatics, the team delivered an event that brought elite and inclusive open water swimming to the shores of Cyprus – proving that world-class sporting infrastructure and genuine accessibility aren’t mutually exclusive.
The result speaks for itself. Protaras has become home to a growing annual fixture on the international swimming calendar, now drawing:
- 30+ countries represented on the start line
- 150+ elite athletes competing at the highest level
- 60+ team members delivering the event behind the scenes
And at the heart of it all, a Special Olympics category ensures the event isn’t just about elite performance — it’s about making sure everyone has a place in the water.
What began as a single leg of a European competition has grown into a signature moment for Cyprus on the global sporting stage. With every season, Protaras cements its reputation as a destination that can deliver for athletes and communities alike — and Parallax Experience continues to be the team turning that vision into reality.
